The Woods RV Park & Campground

The Woods RV Park & Campground

Heading to Texas we had to go a completely different route than originally planned due to Hurricane Michael. This brought us through Montgomery, Alabama. At this point in the day, we were looking for a place to rest for the night. We found The Woods RV Park and the reviews we found were ok.

No Wifi

The Woods RV Park is near Interstate 65 but noise is not a factor. The check-in process was slow as it’s not computerized. We were assigned our site and then told there was no wifi anywhere in the park except near the front office and the park was in between carriers. Funny, but we have heard that at a few different campgrounds now.

All sites are FHU pull-through sites. The first thing I always check at a site is electric. I use our small progressive industries surge protector and make sure it shows all green lights. Our pedestal did not pass. Off to the office, I went.

Electrical Issue

After explaining to the office staff that there was an issue with the electric and how I had one red light her response was, “oh, you have one of those.” Well, yes I do and I trust it 100%!!! Anyway, we were given another site. Before I moved to the new site I checked that one and guess what? Another red light!!! I went down the line and found a few with all green lights and went back to the office.

Our Site The Woods

We were allowed to move to one of the good sites we found and at no time was the office staff nasty. We moved to the new site and had no issues with any of the hook-ups. The site was fairly level and only took a little bit to level off the RV.

There were no picnic tables or fire pits at any site. The office/camp store had limited products, limited RV accessories and some ice cream.

Great Catch And Release Pond

There was a small playground next to a covered pavilion area. This park is pet-friendly but does not have a designated/fenced dog park. It has a great catch and release pond. There was an area that had horseshoes but no other outside games.

Just outside the park was an Arby’s in case you were hungry and didn’t want to cook…lol. There were seasonal RV’s there and they were all neat and clean.

Final Thoughts

If we were in the area and needed a place to rest for the night we would return. The employees were pleasant and the park was clean. There is not much to do in the park itself but if you are exploring the area and just come back at night to relax, this place would be fine.
