No doubt you will be confused about the pricing listed at the end. I was…lol. Let me explain. We originally booked for 8 days. The Passport America discount was only good for 7 days. During our stay, Hurricane Michael decided he was going to come through the panhandle but the weather channel couldn’t decide on the exact day and time. We decided it was in our best interest to add 2 more days on and they gave us the Passport America discount for those 2 days. This park also charged a resort fee. I hope that clears it up a little.
This is an Encore RV Resorts property. They have a few parks they own so to make reservations either on the phone or online you will be calling RVonthego.com. We usually wait until we are on the road to make a reservation but we knew we wanted to be in Florida for this time period to visit family and our dates included a holiday. We figured better safe than sorry.
Making The Reservation Was A Breeze
The reservation person was extremely friendly and gave us a price for our stay. When we mentioned Passport America she said oh, you’re going to save some money. Save we did!!! The confirmation e-mail came right away. We originally just gave a deposit to hold the site but later went online and paid in full.
Check-in was a breeze although we did get kind of a surprise. The desk employee said to us there were no facilities available at this time. Apparently, they were re-doing their bathhouses and put on their website that there would be no facilities available for certain dates which included our stay. It wasn’t a problem for us because we always use our own facilities at any park but I guess we should read websites a little more carefully…lol.
The Security Gate Is a Nice Feature
This campground has a security gate and you are given a card for the gate during check-in. This is the only thing you must return when leaving. The garbage dumpsters were located behind the main office along with the propane fill area.
The park was right off I-95 but noise was never an issue. All the roads in the park were concrete and a lot of the concrete was broken throughout the park. Not a problem for driving but we like to walk and had to be careful as we walked around the park.
All Sites Were On Concrete Pads
The sites were on concrete pads and angled perfectly so backing in was a breeze. The hookups were in good shape so set-up was also a breeze. The pad was close to level and only took minor adjusting. There was no cable and no Wifi. Wifi was available for a fee through a third party vendor.
The overall shape of the park is that of a large square. The roads were set up in either an up and down or side to side direction. All the amenities were in the center of the park: the pool, bathrooms/showers (when they are finished remodeling them), all the outside games, and the laundromat. The laundromat was open 24 hours but the machines did not take quarters. You had to purchase a card for $3 and then put money on that card. All the machines used the card. We felt $3 for the card was a little high especially since we would only be doing laundry there once or twice. Oh well. We used most of the money on the card before we were done and gave the card with $1 on it to one of the seasonals we met.
The Little Sheds Held All The Game Pieces Needed To Play
All the supplies for the outdoor games were in little sheds and available anytime. We thought that was a good idea. The pool and surrounding areas were kept neat and clean at all times.
The residents, overnighters, and staff were all very friendly. There was a maintenance company that came in once a week to mow and weed wack so the grounds always looked trim and neat. There was a very large fenced in pet park towards the back of the park along with a large storage area for RV’s.
Not Your Typical Campground
This is not your typical campground setting. It is set up more like a resort. There were many permanent homes throughout the park but there were also many sites available for seasonal or short stays. Some of the sites were close together. Our site was nice because we were on the corner.
Campfires were permitted in above the ground covered fire pits. The pits were not provided by the campground.
One additional feature we liked was a gas station, convenience store and McDonald’s were right outside the resort well within walking distance.
