Ripleys Aquarium Of The Smokies

When the weather forecast for Pigeon Forge was less than perfect we needed to find an indoor activity. The concierge guy in the KOA in Pigeon Forge recommended Ripley’s Aquarium. It was a good call. We were able to get a trolley from Pigeon Forge right to the front door of the aquarium for a few bucks.

Rock Sign

While the aquarium was a little pricey, it definitely was awesome. There are many displays with some being interactive. They have a stingray display where you could actually touch them. A penguin display where you could climb up these tubes and feel like you were right there in the middle of all the penguins.

Our favorite part was an area that took you through a large glass tank which made you kind of feel like you were diving and observing the sea life. At the beginning of the display you stepped on to a moving floor, like a flat escalator, and it brought you through the tank of sharks, giant turtles, and other fish.

Jelly Fish

There were shows throughout the day and a food area. They also offer overnight sleepovers and group events. Check out their website for more details and upcoming special events. As with any attraction of this type, the prices were a little high but if you want to bring your family to a cool aquarium, this is it. It’s a great rainy day activity.
