KOA Missoula

Brief Overview

KOA Missoula is located at exit 200 off interstate 90 in Montana. What was originally located in the middle of a heavily wooded area when it was opened in the early 60s is now located in a heavily commercial area surrounded by businesses and residential housing.

Entering The Park

Although some people’s GPS will take you in a back way off West Broadway, the proper way to enter this campground is from England Blvd to Tina Ave. As you pull onto Tina Blvd the campground is on your left side until you hit the office building about 1000′ feet up. On your right side are private homes, then the office. The office is located approximately 3/4 of the way through the park. In between the private homes and the office is a short path that takes you into a shopping center parking lot. Our favorite store in this shopping center was Cold Stone Creamery. Ice Cream…Woohoo!!!

The Office Building

The KOA Missoula office where you would check in houses a nice-sized gift shop and store for camping supplies. Connected to the office is the laundry room. The laundry room does not have 24-hour access. It keeps the same hours as the office. On the far end of the office building are the main restrooms and showers. A mini-golf course is directly after the building.

Activities

Across from the office is a building called the fun center. Here you will find the pool, hot tub, 2 ADA bathroom/showers, a game room, and the banana bikes. There is an attendant to check for wristbands for the pool area entry. Wrist bands are given out during check-in. No worries, if you lose yours you can go to the office and you will be issued another one. Once you pay for the banana bike rentals (in the office) the fun center attendant will get you all set up to ride.

RV Sites

Ok, let’s back it up to when you first turn into the park. The very first row (closest to England Blvd) is generally used for work campers. The next 2 rows in (P & Q row) are full hook-up 50 amp sites. The next 2 rows (M & N) are full hook-up pull-through 30 & 50 amp sites. At the far end of those rows is the fenced K-9 dog park. Behind that is a bus company garage. The far end of the “M” row, the “J” row, the “K'” row, and the “L” row are a mix of full hook-up and water/electric sites. See the site map for more details.

The Middle Of The Park

The middle section of the park starting from Tina Ave is broken up into 3 sections. The front section (closest to Tina Ave) is 2 basic cabins with tent sites behind them. The 2 basic cabins both have an extra bedroom in the back so they sleep up to 6 people. The next section houses the satellite restrooms/showers, 13 basic cabins, and a rounded tent section with electricity.

The Back Section

The back part of this “middle” section houses 2 tee-pees, 2 individual family-style bathrooms/showers, and more tent sites. The bathrooms consist of a toilet, sink, and shower in an individual room. There was a path that led from this section to the middle sections so you would have access to the satellite bathrooms since there were only the 2 in the back.

“B” Through “G” Row

The final section of the park (the furthest from (England Blvd) was a mix of full hook-up 30 & 50 amp pull-through sites. There is no “A” row but where the “A” row would be is a section of mobile homes.

Final Thoughts

We spent the summer here and had a blast. There are so many cool things to do and see. The campground can be noisy at times but otherwise is a great place to use as a base camp as you explore Montana. Would we ever stay here again? We actually did. After picking up our RV when our axle snapped when we were leaving Montana, we wound up staying here 2 nights. You can read about that nightmare using the link below.
