KOA Jonestown/Hershey NE

This KOA is close to both I-81 and I-78. We were there during the offseason so there was not much open or going on. From Memorial Day to Labor Day they have a shuttle that will take you to and from Hershey Park. They also have tube, kayak, and canoe rentals. There is a jumping pillow, sprayground, and playground for the kids. I believe the sprayground takes the place of the pool as there is no pool.

The overall appearance of this place gave me the feeling that it was under construction. There looked like a lot of half-finished projects. This could very well be because we were there in the off-season. It looked like they were in the process of building some Yurts.

There are some sites located along the Swatara Creek that looked awesome. The sites were set up so that your RV Door opened up to the creek. If we were to come back to this campground, we would try and get one of these sites.

The staff was friendly but when my wife was in the camp store buying some items, I tried to make small talk with the clerk by saying they had a nice KOA. Her reaction was an eye roll and an Ehhh. I thought that was extremely odd. Anyway, as I said they were all friendly.

The camp store was well stocked and included an ice cream shop and cafeteria type kitchen. There was a big deck outside the store where you can take your food or ice cream and relax and enjoy it.

The wifi was typical campground wifi, spotty. Verizon cell signal was good. The sites were a decent size but some of the sites were a little tough to get in and out of. We had no problems with our site but we were escorted through another site to access it easily.

Final Thoughts

The bottom line is if we were in the area again we would definitely stay at this campground again. Who knows, maybe we would even do a little kayaking.
