King Phillips is located in Lake George. It is about 2 miles from the beach at Lake George. Upon pulling into the parking lot the first thing that came to mind was that there was really no place to park while checking in that would not be blocking parking spaces at the store.
The office staff was very friendly at check-in and provided us with a map and directions to our site. Well, that did not go well. Either I misunderstood what she said or she did not describe it very well. Either way a couple of u-turns later and we found our site. We felt the map was not very accurate and not to scale. They did have a security guy at the front entrance most times who we later found out would bring you to your site. Unfortunately, we checked in while he was on his rounds and did not realize this.…lol. I will say, the guy who was at the front entrance was one of the friendliest people we ever met. Anytime you walked by he offered a ride to your site or answered any questions you had.
Our site was a pull-through and a nice sized one at that. The hookups were placed well and the site was gravel and fairly level. We had full hookups including cable. All worked with no issues. It was actually the perfect site with one exception. Our site and the site next to us faced each other. Our fire pits were so close we could have toasted marshmallows off each other’s pit. Thank goodness both of our neighbors (we had 2 different people in that site during our stay), were very friendly.
There were a lot of seasonals but they were all very friendly. Every time we needed information or to purchase something from the store, the employees were extremely friendly. Attitudes were not a problem here.
They had a small game room, laundromat, pool, a playground, and some intermittently scheduled activities for the kids. The sites were grouped in clusters and some were a little close. The bathrooms/showers were spotless. They had a nice set up where each shower was its own room with a shower, sink, and toilet.
Overall, our opinion is this was a great place if you were going to use it as a home base to explore the area or just park and relax at your site. I believe they have a policy where you can pick a site upon arrival. This is a great feature. If we were in the area and ever went back, we would make sure we took a site that did not go face to face with our neighbors and did not have low hanging wires (another problem with some of the sites.) That was kind of a turn-off. Unfortunately, we did not realize this until we were already set up and did not feel like breaking everything down to move.
