If you’re a history buff and like Forts, as I do, this-this 18th-century fort built by the French is a perfect day trip for you and the family. It was built between 1755 and 1757.
There are tours and live demonstrations and re-enactments throughout the day. As you walk through the interior of the fort, you gain access to various displays and the sleeping quarters of the soldiers. There is also a nice cafe type place on-site to grab a snack or lunch overlooking the lake.
When you pay for admission they also give you a token for Mount Defiance. It is only about 3.5 miles away. Try and do this also. you will not regret it. You will be treated to a beautiful mountain view with an awesome view of the fort below.
