If you stopped at the McClean-Allanreed Area Museum, you are literally around the block from the Devils Rope. This is an attraction dense area of RT 66. With the McClean-Allanreed Museum around the block and The old restored gas station only a few blocks from here, you can catch some great area history.
The Devils rope museum is a tribute to everything barbed wire. It covers all sorts of barbed wire and fencing tools with a small corner dedicated to some RT 66 stuff.
Barbed wire history is basically built around boundaries. Especially in the panhandle where trees are scarce. There are lots of different styles of fencing, barbed wire sculptures, and tools. Anything to do with barbed wire or its history is located in this museum.
Entrance to the museum is free of charge.
