Back in August 2015, we took a ride with our motorcycle group to Battleship Cove located in Fall River Massachusetts. It started with a ferry ride from Orient Point Long Island to New London Connecticut. From New London, it was about another hour and a half to Fall River Massachusetts where Battleship Cove is located.
Battleship Cove is a nonprofit Maritime Museum featuring WW2 naval vessels. It featured the USS Massachusetts, The USS Joseph P. Kennedy, the USS Lionfish, and the Hiddensee. It also had displays of PT Boats in the PT boat Museum, a Model Exhibit, The USS Saint Paul Exhibit, and The Raleigh Burke National Destroyermen’s Museum, From May through September, they feature something called the Pearl Harbor Experience. It is an outdoor exhibit about Pearl Harbor featuring a multimedia screen display, 4-D sound, and special effects water display. It usually runs every hour on the hour between the hours of 11 am-3 pm. It is an eye-opening display of events that is definitely something to see.
There is a cafeteria where you can get some food, snacks, and drinks that are moderately priced. After relaxing and eating some lunch in the air-conditioned cafeteria, you can follow along a self-guided tour of the ship by following the markings on the floor.
Anyone who is interested in The Naval History of WW2 should definitely make a stop here. It is a great way to spend the day and fun way to learn some history.
